By Kolawole Ojebisi

Former Political Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, has stated that there is turmoil in the anti-Tinubu’s opposition camp over who will be the face of the coalition ahead of the 2027 election.

According to Baba-Ahmed, this has created a serious division among those planning to join forces together in a bid to unseat President Bola Tinubu and end the twelve year reign of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ex-presidential aide who made this declaration while featuring on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Monday, said this development may impact negatively on the coalition.

He said, “I’m not involved in the coalition discussion. I am just observing with a lot of worries that an opportunity to create a strong opposition to the ruling party is being messed up by people who insist they must be the face of that opposition.

“There are divisions between and among them. It is a coalition of a few politicians, who thought that they could arrive at some understanding and then open the door and say “fellow Nigerians, we have agreed that this one will be this one and this one will be that”.

“None of these people should lead or be in a position to determine who should be in the coalition, they can work behind the scene.

“Who are the younger Nigerians that should be at this party? Where are the youths? They are missing the point. They think that politics is about them but it is not”.

Baba-Ahmed made these remarks on the heels of reports that the opposition coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of Labour Party and others have commenced move to register a new party, All Democratic Alliance, ADA.
