The Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has expressed concerns over the loss of lives which happened in some states in the country at the weekend, describing the developments as “the real de-marketing”
Obi stated that people are getting inured to killings and allied tragic occurrences due to an increase in the frequency in which they happen.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently rejig the security architecture of the country to contain and combat growing insecurity.
The ex-Anambra governor spoke in a post on his official X handle on Monday.āThe regularity of bloodletting of innocent souls in our country has reduced the news value of human deaths.
āThese are just the ones reported in a single day. Many others go unreported as the violence spreads to every corner of our nation. For a country not officially at war, this is terrifying,ā he noted.
The LP 2023 presidential candidate was responding to the series of reported cases of suicide bombing and other tragic incidents which claimed lives in Borno, Kano and Plateau over the weekend.
At least 25 people were killed in Borno following a suicide bomber’s attack on a busy food joints.
In a similar developments an IED explosion killed at least 5 people in Kano hours after Borno’s incident.
As if those incidents were not enough, a group of travellers were attacked and killed in Plateau later on Saturday evening.
