The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA) has recovered three dead bodies in a two-storey building under construction that collapsed in Ikorodu area, a Lagos suburb.
The New Diplomat learnt that the deceased were part of a team of construction workers, reportedly working on the ground floor when the structure collapsed on Tuesday afternoon.
The emergency responders confirmed that the recovered bodies included two adult males and a teenage girl.
LASEMA officials disclosed that the first body was recovered, shortly after the incident, while the remaining two victims were pulled from the debris during an extended search that continued into the early hours of Wednesday.
The New Diplomat gathered that the building collapsed around 2:00 p.m. with a defeaning sound, drawing the attention of residents and passersby to the scene.
Meanwhile, LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, has confirmed the unfortunate incident, adding that the agency has reported to the Igbogbo Police Division to support in the ongoing investigations into the cause of the structural failure.
