The Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo has issued a directive prohibiting members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from wearing party uniforms or displaying party symbols during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state on May 8, 2025.

The state government said the announcement was aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly event in the state.

The state government, led by Governor Soludo of APGA, stated that the restriction is part of measures to maintain neutrality and avoid political tensions during the president’s visit.

The Anambra State government through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, disclosed this in a press statement made available on Thursday.

He said: “This is to inform you that everybody coming to Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, for the reception of President Bola Tinubu tomorrow should be in mufti.

“Please, nobody should put on APGA clothes or Support Group uniforms.”

The New Diplomat reports that Tinubu is scheduled to commission several key projects, including the new Government House and Lodge, the Fun City project, and the Ekwulobia flyover.

The directive comes amid heightened political activity in Anambra, with the November 8, 2025, governorship election approaching.

The state’s political landscape is fiercely contested, with APGA, APC, PDP and the Labour Party (LP) emerging as major players.
