The immediate past governor of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has demanded a thorough probe into allegations that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, was involved in the torture of Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

This comes as the claims have sparked widespread controversy across social media platforms.

Recall that the NANS president claimed that he was offered N100 million by a go-to person of Seyi Tinubu, which he claimed to have rejected.

According to Isah, following his decision to reject the money, Seyi Tinubu allegedly orchestrated an attack during NANS’ inauguration ceremony at The Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro, Abuja, on April 29, 2025.

He alleged that Seyi Tinubu sent armed thugs to disrupt the event, claiming that he was abducted, beaten, and subjected to dehumanizing treatment.

He further stated that he was forced to record an involuntary statement at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) studio, linking the attack to his election as NANS president.

Reacting to the allegations, El-Rufai took to X, urging security agencies to investigate the claims against Seyi Tinubu.

The former governor, who recently dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), said the security agencies must get to the root of the matter.

In the post, he wrote, “What is going on here? Is there a denial by the named culprits any response from law enforcement agencies or inquiries by human rights organizations? We must ask questions, and demand answers and action!! #JusticeforNANSPresident.”

He tagged international media outlets and human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, to amplify the issue.

However, Seyi Tinubu has denied the allegations, dismissing them as “baseless and defamatory.”

In an Instagram post on April 29, 2025, he wrote: “Wow.. how can someone lie with so much confidence…?? Wow wow… an attempt to defame my character. May God be with you, Comrade Atiku Isah.”

In another post, he added, “I have never held a meeting to discuss any subject matter with Comrade Isah in Lagos or anywhere else in the world. I have never knowingly met him before. Neither did I visit any location with thugs.”

“All these allegations made by Atiku Isah are completely fictional.”
