The Rivers State House of Assembly has stirred fresh controversy in the state’s political landscape by requesting the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi, over allegations of age falsification.

The motion to involve the DSS was initiated following the presentation of certain unspecified documents by the House Leader, Hon. Major Jack, to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule.

The documents purportedly suggested discrepancies in the official age records of Justice Amadi. Deputy Speaker Hon. Dumle Maol, in his remarks, described the allegations as “very serious,” urging the Assembly to take legislative action to address the claims.

Speaker Amaewhule, presiding over the session, emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to ascertain the veracity of the allegations.

“The documents before us point to a possible case of age falsification by the honourable Chief Judge. This is not a matter we can sweep under the rug; it demands a proper probe,” he stated.

Following a voice vote, the Assembly resolved to formally invite the DSS to conduct an independent investigation into the matter.
