An eminent immigration specialist lawyer and distinguished writer, Johnson Babalola has been honoured by the Toronto Police Service during its 2025 Black History Month Community Award.

Johnson Babalola, popularly known as JB among friends and peers, has attained high standing as a certified specialist lawyer in Canada on account of his sterling legal accomplishments in North America.

Babalola was awarded at an event which was held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the British Methodist Episcopal Church in Toronto, Canada.

It was reported that the Toronto Police Service, in collaboration with 13 Division and the British Methodist Episcopal (BME) Church organized Black History Month celebrations to honor both community members and police personnel for their service and efforts in fostering community relationships.

The Toronto Police Service has a history of recognizing contributions during Black History Month, often through events and awards that honour individuals who have made significant impacts within the service or the broader community.

The New Diplomat reports that this is not the first time Babalola, a Nigerian-born lawyer practising in Toronto, has received prestigious awards.

It would be recalled that he was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Black Canadians for 2023-2024 by Afroglobal Television, which celebrated his remarkable accomplishments and role as a game-changer and mentor for Canadian youth.

He had also been honoured at the BOND Awards in Canada for his outstanding accomplishments and impact on Society and the lives of many.

The New Diplomat also reports that Babalola is a certified immigration specialist lawyer, author, workplace consultant, leadership trainer, storyteller and thought leader. He is a prolific and engaging Guest columnist with The New Diplomat digital newspaper.

His illustrious career has spanned various roles, from being an immigration consultant and licensed legal practitioner in Canada to founding partner of JBLaw Professional Corporation (practising as Topmarké Attorneys LLP), a leading law firm in Toronto.

His professional journey also includes being a workplace consultant, a founding member of the Ontario Centre for Public Policy and Strategy (OCPPS), a global project consulting service firm and a director of 360° Consulting, a leadership training firm based in Nigeria.
