President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Abuja, embarking on a foreign trip to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for an official engagement.
His trip is aimed at participating in a scheduled Africa Heads of State Energy Summit, a pivotal event where leaders will gather to address critical energy issues facing the continent.
This summit, occurring between January 27 and 28, 2025, is hosted by the Tanzanian government in collaboration with the African Development Bank Group and the World Bank.
The primary aim of the summit, according to the organizers, is to advance “Mission 300,” an initiative to provide electricity access to 300 million people in Africa by 2030.
During the event, African leaders, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and civil society groups will strategize on ways to accelerate energy access across the continent, focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and attracting private sector investment.
According to the presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President would join other African leaders, private sector leaders, development partners, and civil society groups in Dar es Salaam to strategise to accelerate energy access across the continent.
Joining the President on the trip are the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; and the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Olu Verheijen.
