  • Says, Police Locked Up His Family During ‘Impeachment”

By Kolawole Ojebisi

Former Speaker of Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, said, on Friday, the manner his removal was carried out was all shades of wrong

Obasa noted that his removal was done while he was away with alleged connivance of the police.

He also alleged that the Commissioner of Police in the State led security agents to invade the assembly ahead of the removal.

The lawmaker said his Agege and Ikeja residences were not spared of invasion as well, claiming that more than 200 policemen were allegedly deployed to the two places to lock his family indoors.

Obasa broke silence about his removal on Saturday during a welcome rally organised by his loyalists at his Joel Ogunnaike GRA residence, Ikeja.

He described the allegations against him as “fictitious and unsubstantiated.”

Obasa said he was not afraid of removal but such should be done within the ambit of the law.

“If I am not speaker, that’s not the end of the world. If you want to claim that I am corrupt, please prove it.

“Is it possible to construct a gate, ordinary gate with N16bn? When it’s not Jericho wall.”
