Former President of Liberia and Ballon d’Or winner, George Weah has once again captured public’s attention. This time, he did so with his dance moves to celebrate the New Year in 2025 in his country home, amongst his local people.

Weah, who served as Liberia’s president from 2018 to 2024, was seen displaying his charisma and elegant dance steps in a viral video.

In the viral video, Weah was seen in the company of his community kinsmen participating in a dance challenge named “BiriMarung” and showcasing dance moves reminiscent of the “Maradona ke star.”

His dance steps, reminiscent of his energetic days on the football field, have resonated with many, as they took to their social media accounts to commend Weah’s ability to engage with local people through an art form that transcends political and social divides.

George Weah is a former professional footballer and politician from Liberia. Here’s an overview of his notable achievements and roles:

The New Diplomat reports that Weah is widely regarded as one of the greatest African footballers of all time. He played as a striker for several high-profile clubs including AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

His career highlights include winning the Ballon d’Or in 1995, making him the first and only African player to receive this prestigious award. He also won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in the same year.

After retiring from football, Weah transitioned into politics in Liberia. He ran for president in 2005 but was defeated in the runoff election by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. He then served as a senator for Montserrado County starting in 2014.
