- Says Farotimi Is Dedicated To A Better Nigeria

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the presidential elections and two-term governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has paid a solidarity visit to renowned human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi.
Obi, a two-term governor of Anambra state, described Farotimi as a man who desired a “better Nigeria”.
The former governor made this known in a series of statements posted on his official X handle.
The New Diplomat reports that the visit comes amidst an ongoing legal battle facing Farotimi.
Obi said: “Since his return from the correctional centre in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him. I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria.
“Dele Farotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation.
“I wish him a fruitful and productive year as we continue to work together toward the development of our country.”
It would be recalled that on December 24, Farotimi was released after perfecting his bail conditions.
The activist had been arraigned on a 14-count charge bordering on alleged defamation.
The police had accused Farotimi of “criminally defaming” Afe Babalola, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), in the book titled: ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’.
Farotimi is currently facing trial in two courts on charges bordering on the alleged defamation of Babalola.
