A magistrate court in Ibadan has ordered the remand of Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, alongside Oriyomi Hamzat, the Chief Executive Officer of Agidigbo FM, in connection with the tragic stampede that took place in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The New Diplomat reports that Silekunola, Hamzat, and Fasasi Abdullahi, the principal of Islamic High School, are currently facing charges brought by the police, stemming from the chaos that resulted in injuries and distress during the event.

The trio were arraigned before the magistrate court on Tuesday.

The police filed a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities, against the defendants.

The magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, in his ruling, ordered the remand of the defendants at the Agodi Correctional Centre pending the advice of the director of public prosecutions (DPP) of the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.

It would be recalled that the tragic incident happened at the event which took place at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The event was reportedly organized by Naomi’s foundation, Women in Need of Guidance and Support (WINGS).
