President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday approved the reconstitution of the Executive Management for the River Basin Development Authorities (RBDAs) under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

The President appointed new Managing Directors and other executive roles across various River Basin Development Authorities in Nigeria.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The New Diplomat reports that in the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, Tinubu appointed Dr. Adedeji Ashiru, replacing Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke was initially appointed as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

He was replaced due to protests about regional representation. Woke was then reassigned to head the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA).

Ashiru holds a Doctorate in Engineering from the Common Wealth University, UK, and has led a consortium of blue-chip companies.

For the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare was appointed as the Managing Director/CEO. He is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State.

It would be recalled that the latest appointments come after former President Muhammadu Buhari had also reconstituted the executive management of these authorities in 2021.
