Rosemary Oromoni, the mother of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old boy who passed away tragically in 2021 amidst allegations of bullying at Dowen College in Lagos, has reportedly passed away.

Media reports on Tuesday indicate that her death occurred in late November after she reportedly endured a prolonged and protracted struggle with various health ailments connected to blood pressure.

Amanda, one of the late Sylvester’s sisters, took to Instagram with the handle Amandaoromoni to commemorate the profound sorrow her family is experiencing.

In the post, she shared a heartfelt message that her sister passed away on November 25, 2024.

On her Instagram profile, Amanda wrote, “30-11-21🕊🩸 25-11-24🕊️🩸,” marking the anniversary of her brother, Sylvester’s death and the date of her mother’s passing, respectively.

Mrs Oromoni’s passing comes seven months after a controversial verdict by a special court in Lagos State, which ruled against her family’s claims in April.

Recall that Sylvester breathed his last on November 30, 2021, amidst allegations that he had been bullied at school and was purportedly forced to ingest a harmful substance.

However, a Lagos State Coroner’s Inquest court which convened at the Ogba Magistrate Court ruled that the cause of Sylvester’s death was not as a result of the alleged bullying but on account of negligence on part of his parents and his doctor.

Recall also that Coroner Magistrate Mikhail concluded that Sylvester’s demise resulted from inadequate treatment for his enlarged liver, maintaining that the boy suffered from poor medical care leading up to his tragic death.

Kadiri also exonerated five senior students from Dowen College who were alleged to have bullied Sylvester. Their names are; Favour Benjamin, Edward Begue, Ansel Temile, Kenneth Inyang, and Micheal Kashamu, the son of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu.

During the inquest, Magistrate Kadiri highlighted the distressing revelation that Sylvester’s health had deteriorated while under the care of his parents.
