Former Nigerian lawmaker and controversial politician Dino Melaye has once again captured public attention after releasing a diss track aimed at the immediate-past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

This comes at a time when Bello finds himself embroiled in controversy, grappling with serious allegations of corruption.

Dino performed the song at the dinner event commemorating the second anniversary of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s tenure in Osun State.

During the event, Melaye took the opportunity to ridicule his political rival, Bello, in light of his recent arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In the song, Melaye referenced Bello’s alleged financial misconduct and his purported connection to the EFCC’s recent probe.

While singing in the mix of Yoruba language and English, he sang, “Do you know Yahaya Bello ma se won leyin Ijoba? I know Yahaya Bello ma se won leyin Ijoba?”, implying that he knows Yahaya Bello will be imprisoned after his government.

The New Diplomat reports that this comes after the EFCC arraigned Bello on a 16-count charge bordering on alleged involvement in a fraud amounting to N110 billion.

The former governor was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

However, he pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
