Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has lauded the construction and engineering innovations exhibited at the ongoing Ecobank expo in Lagos.

Obasanjo noted that the Ecobank expo is an affirmation that Nigeria has vast potential and resources.

He urged the current crop of leaders to leverage the country’s wealth of capital (both human and material) at their disposal to make Nigeria a global leader.

Obasanjo spoke on Wednesday at the ongoing Ecobank design and build expo at the Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC) in Lagos.

The five-day event, themed, ‘Building Nigeria Together’, began today and will continue until December 1, 2024 — featuring over 60 exhibitors showcasing their latest products and innovations.

Obasanjo praised Ecobank for organising the event, which spotlights the building, construction, design, and architectural sectors.

Touring the pavilions to examine the innovations and sustainable practices in household appliances, engineering, and interior design exhibited, the former president commended the exhibitors for the exceptional quality of their work.

He further called on leaders at all levels “to leverage Nigeria’s resources and drive the nation’s economy to new heights.”

Speaking on the event, Austen Osokpor, head of corporate communications at Ecobank Nigeria, said the expo intends to empower businesses and ultimately help grow Nigeria’s economy.

“The expo is positioned as a go-to hub to empower businesses, provide financial solutions, promote economic growth, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in the real estate, design and construction sector with the overarching message: “Building Nigeria Together”,” he said.

“At this expo, participants will discover cutting-edge designs and sustainable innovations that can inform their next real estate or construction project.

“They will also learn about bespoke mortgage plans, construction loans, and investment opportunities designed to bring their property ambitions to life with ease.

“They will be able to connect with top developers, architects, and builders shaping the future of real estate and construction—opportunities that would come in handy for their future projects.”

Some prominent global brands exhibiting at the event are SABA Steel, Coleman Wire & Cables, Donna Spectre, and Dulux Paints.

Others include HTL Africa, ITB Nigeria Limited, Mota Engil Nigeria, and several more industry leaders.
