The family of Bishop T.D. Jakes, the founding pastor of the Potter’s House Church, a mega-church based in Dallas, United States, has confirmed that the popular preacher is now “doing well” after he suffered a health incident while preaching on Sunday.

In a shocking development, Jakes, who stood before the congregation on Sunday, delivering the final words of his sermon, suddenly lowered his microphone, his body beginning to tremble uncontrollably.

This generated immediate concerns as several individuals rushed to the stage to prevent the preacher from collapsing.

Jakes was immediately taken to a hospital to receive medical attention. Giving updates on the development, Jakes’ daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts, said her father is now doing well.

She said the popular preacher is recovering well as he is under medical care.

She, however, failed to disclose the cause of the health challenges facing her father.

She said: “Obviously, today could have been a tragic day, but it wasn’t; by the mercy of God, by the grace of God, Bishop is doing well. He is recovering well, he’s under medical care, he’s strong.

“We’re trying to get him to sit down, he’s the strong Bishop that we know, but we really can’t thank you enough for your prayers.

“I’m so grateful that he’s already beginning to improve.”

In another statement shared via Facebook, the Potter’s House said: “During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message.

“Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”

The New Diplomat reports that the Potter’s House is a non-denominational, multicultural church founded by Jakes in 1996. The church boasts a membership of over 30,000 individuals, positioning it as one of the largest and most influential congregations in the United States.
