On Monday, United States President-elect Donald Trump announced his intention to take significant action regarding border security, revealing that he has formulated plans to declare a national emergency.

He also declared that he plans to mobilize the US military to facilitate a large-scale, massive deportation of undocumented migrants.

Trump made this known in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.

He said he is “prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program.”

The New Diplomat reports that immigration was a top issue in the election campaign, and Trump had promised to deport millions and stabilize the United States border with Mexico after recording numbers of migrants crossing illegally during the outgoing President Joe Biden’s administration.

Throughout his campaign, Trump had criticized what he called undocumented immigrants, framing them as a “significant issue facing the nation.”

While he has not provided comprehensive details about his proposed immigration crackdown, he had consistently pledged during his election campaign to utilize the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, a move he claimed would allow for expedited deportations of individuals who are not legally documented in the United States.
