From the evidence of the results announced so far, it is safe to state that the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lucky Ayedatiwa, has defeated his political opponent and closest rival, Agboola Ajayi, who is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his local government.

The results were announced at the ongoing collation exercise at the INEC office in Akure, the state capital.

According to the results, Ajayi polled 7,814 votes while his rival, Aiyedatiwa scored 14,511 votes.

With Ese Odo being the last local government area announced ahead of the final declaration of the winner, Aiyedatiwa has swept all the 18 local government areas in the state.

Recall that the PDP candidate, shortly after casting his ballot on Saturday, accused the electoral umpire of bias, calling for the resignation of the commission’s chairman, Prof Mahmoud Yakubu.
