Ribadu’s Conduct Unbecoming Of NSA -Sule Lamido

• Ribadu’s Delivery On Mandate Unparalleled -Shehu Sani

By Kolawole Ojebisi

A former Governor of Jigawa state and one time Nigeria’s foreign Affairs Minister, Sule Lamido and a one-time Senator from Kaduna State and frontline activist, Shehu Sani have disagreed sharply on the performance of the current National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

While Sule Lamido claims that Ribadu appears to have abandoned his primary duty of providing national security solutions to the insecurity country, and has assumed the role of an unofficial spokesman of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shehu Sani thinks differently, stressing that the National Security Adviser’s delivery on his job schedule so far has been excellent.

Lamido who on Friday criticized Ribadu on his official X account said it be is a misplaced priority for the NSA to abandon his primary responsibility of seeking solutions to security challenges for the unofficial role of a spokesman and Minister of Information for the Tinubu administration

The former Governor reeled out names of some of Ribadu’s predecessors in office noting their enviable qualities to assert that Ribadu has not been conducting himself professionally in office like a typical NSA.

Lamido wrote: “Late Umaru Shinkafi, Gen Abdullahi Mohammed, late Rafindadi, Sama’ila Gwarzo, Gen. Aliyu Gusau, and Gen. Sarki Mukhtar, Col. Dasuki and Gen. Monguno.

“These are those I can recollect, and they all share something in common. They were all matured professionals, disciplined, competent, and not loquacious, above all anonymous, and were never flippant. They were all very thorough because they never had a moral problem.

“The current National Security Advisor understandably has a moral problem, which is a huge burden to carry.”

But Shehu Sani, in his appraisal of the security challenges, however, maintained that the NSA’s office under Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has achieved a lot, unlike his predecessor under the administration of former president Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the lawmaker, bandits have been neutralised to a large extent. He declared that words of encouragement should have been ideal rather than vilification.

He said: “Neutralisation of top bandit leaders, end to mass abductions of students in northern schools,

“Securing rail lines and major northern highways hitherto notorious for kidnappings. The prompt response to terrorist attacks on power lines is worth mentioning. Security challenges are not over, but in all indices of comparison, he has performed better and set unprecedented records. His political critics are fully entitled to their views, but his delivery on his mandate is unparalleled.”
