Ahead of the expected DSIEC’s time-table for the Local Government election in Delta State, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and chairmanship aspirant for Okpe Local Government Council, Chief Julius Scott Jessa, has kicked his visits to the excos and leaders of different wards that constitute Okpe Local Government Area in continuation consultation in support of his chairmanship aspiration.

 The Arhagba-born shrewd business man and politician kicked off his wards’ tour Monday with a visit ward 9, Oyeke, ward 8, Adeje and ward 7, Mereje.  At Oyeke, Chief Jessa and his large entourage was received by the PDP ward executive and leaders and hundreds of PDP members from the ward.

 Shortly after the usual exchange of pleasantries and entertainment protocols, Chief Jessa informed the ward leaders and exco of his mission, adding that he was in the ward to consult with them on his intention to contest the chairmanship election of Okpe Local Government Council.

 He noted that he was abreast with the problem of lack of infrastructure, impoverished primary health facilities among others in the area, assuring that his administration will ensure that the issues were addressed when he becomes the chairman of the Council.

 Responding on behalf of the ward, the party leader, Chief Daniel Okoro, welcomed the chairmanship aspirants and his entourage, stating that his mission was good.  He however, urged the aspirant to reach out to all PDP members, not only in ward 9, but across the entire Council area and preach the gospel of what he can offer them when he becomes the chairman.

 “You have to reach out to all the people and sell your vision and what you are capable of doing for the people.  Your success depends on how much you can convince the people to cast their vote for you both in the party primary and the main election proper”, Chief Okoro said.

 At ward 8, Adeje, Chief Jessa and his entourage were also received by the exco and leaders of the party including several members of the party in the ward.

 The chairmanship aspirant reiterated his mission to the ward, stressing that he was on consultation visit to seek the support of the members to his chairmanship intention in the party’s primary as well as the main election.  He stated that as a true son of Okpe, he was aware of the problem confronting the people especially at the grassroots, adding that as a chairman of the Council, he would be prudent with the Council fund and ensure he tackles the peculiar problem confronting them.

 The PDP chairman of ward 8 who spoke on behalf of the exco and leaders, thanked Chief Jessa for deeming it necessary to consult with the ward ahead of the party primary, adding that he should work hard to reach the people and sell his vision to gain their support.

 Chief Jessa consultation train round off at ward 7, Mereje where he was also warmly received by the ward executives and leaders including several party members at the Community Town hall.

 He also delivered his message of better Okpe Local Government Council to the people and assured them that everybody will be carried along in his administration.  

 The party exco chairman and the leaders thanked the aspirant for consulting with them, adding that he should work hard to canvass for the support of the people.
