An elderly woman residing in the community of Igbotako, located within the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, openly revealed that she exchanged her vote for monetary compensation during the ongoing governorship election.

The elder woman who was interviewed by a TVC News correspondent on the voting process in her polling unit said she was paid by a political party. She, however, failed to mention the name of the political party as she was sharply interrupted by the younger women not to talk about the money.

She said: “We have voted and the election went smoothly. No fight, no form of crises or violence. All of us have voted and collected money”.

This comes after officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested a suspected vote buyer in the Ondo governorship election.

It would be recalled that the suspect was allegedly found with two bags of money which are suspected to be for the inducement of voters in the election.

He was arrested at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007, outside St. Stephen’s Primary School, Akure, Ondo State, around 9 am on election day
