Nigerians are expressing their anger and disappointment with law enforcement agents in the country as Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, was seen in a viral video accompanied by a group of heavily armed men on his inaugural day in office as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

This presence of the heavily armed guards and militants has sparked conversations among the public, raising questions and concerns about how such a person was allowed to go about with inappropriate security guards and its implications for the country.

In a recent viral video, MC Oluomo was seen surrounded by a group of armed guards. These guards stood out, not only due to their imposing presence but also because they were not dressed in the recognizable uniforms associated with Nigeria’s official security agencies.

This has sparked a flurry of discussions online, with many people questioning the reasons behind the NURTW President’s decision to move around with these unidentified armed men.

A political commentator who spoke with the New Diplomat wondered why the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has not immediately waded into the matter and called MC Oluomo in for questioning. Some wondered why he has not been taken into custody for moving around with inappropriate armed men to guard him.

MC Oluomo on Monday resumed office following his emergence as the National President of the NURTW. He emerged through consensus during the Quadrennial Delegate Conference at its Zonal Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State on Saturday.

Four States in Southwest, including Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti and Ondo, participated in the election after the position had been zoned to the region by the national body arrangement.
