President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is billed to leave Abuja for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, to attend the Joint Arab- Islamic Summit.
The Summit, set to begin on Monday, November 11, is being held on the invitation of both King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to a statement released on Saturday by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga , the Summit is expected to address a number of critical regional issues, with particular emphasis on the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.
He disclosed that Tinubu is expected to speak on the crisis, reiterating Nigeria’s stance for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.
Onanuga noted that Nigeria will use the opportunity to push for renewed international efforts to revive the two-state solution as a viable path to lasting peace.
“During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasising Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution,” the statement reads.
“Nigeria will also advocate for renewed efforts to revive the two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace in the region,” the release stated.
Accompanying President Tinubu to the summit are Yusuf Tuggar, minister of foreign affairs; Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser; Mohammed Idris, information minister; and Mohammed Mohammed, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
Tinubu is expected back in Abuja at the end of the Summit.
