President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, has sacked Baltasar Ebang Engonga from office as the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) of the country.

The President’s order came following the discovery of explicit videos that were leaked online.

The New Diplomat reports that Engonga has been facing stormy waters after several videos of him engaging in intimate encounters and sex with high-profile women, went viral on various social media channels.

The scandal erupted after nearly 400 tapes showing Engonga’s intimate moments with VIP women, including his cousins, were leaked on social media, quickly becoming the subject of intense public scrutiny and widespread discussion across various jurisdictions globally.

The discovery of the footage has sparked widespread controversy and calls for immediate punishment or action against Engonga.

Reacting to the development, the President of Equatorial Guinea, in Decree No. 118/2024, dated November 4, announced the sacking of Engonga with immediate effect.

He explained that Engonga’s removal from office was due to alleged misconduct during his tenure, as well as personal and social behavior deemed incompatible with his public position.
