The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Tuesday, dismissed the legal charges filed against a group of 119 protesters associated with the #EndBadGovernance movement.

The presiding judge, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, gave this ruling after the counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation, M. D Abubakar, prayed the court to discontinue the matter.

Abubakar stated that the Federal Government is no longer pursuing the charges against the 119 individuals.

Following the submission, Justice Egwuatu struck out the suit. The New Diplomat reports that this comes a few hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the immediate release of all minors arraigned before the court over their alleged connection with the ##EndBadGovernance protest, which was held across the country between August 1 and August 10, 2024.

It would be recalled that a total of 119 protesters were arraigned on Friday, November 1 on charges bordering on Treason felony, inciting to mutiny, among others.

The defendants were arraigned in two batches at the previous proceeding. The first batch comprised a total of 76 protesters, which included 32 minors, and the second batch a total of 43 protesters.

However, the development sparked public outrage as several minors were believed to be part of those facing trial.
