The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has expressed displeasure over ticket racketeering on the Warri–Itakpe train service.
The corporation noted that its officers are working on strict measures to tackle the fraudulent action. This promise is contained in statement issued on Wednesday by the coordinator of the Warri-Itakpe train service,
Abdulganiyu noted that the recent incidents of ticket fraud involving some staff of the corporation is condemnable.
He promised that an internal review is underway to address the issues, emphasising that those found guilty will face strict consequences.
Abdulganiyu also maintained that the NRC is setting up a hotline to make reporting any ticketing issues easier.
He added that the corporation is committed to providing fair and trustworthy service to the public.
“We have been actively working to prevent such issues, and in (the) light to the reports, we are increasing our efforts. Anyone found responsible will be held accountable,” the statement reads.
“We’re also stepping up monitoring and improving our ticketing process to prevent overcharging and make our services more transparent.”
