President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that he will depart Abuja on Wednesday, October 2, for the United Kingdom to begin a two-week vacation as part of his yearly leave.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Onanuga, in the statement, explained that the President “will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.”
According to the statement, “He will return to the country after the leave expires.”
This comes after the President addressed Nigerians on October 1, on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day.
Tinubu, on Tuesday, stated that Nigeria must either reform for progress and have prosperity or continue with business as usual and risk collapse.
He, however, said his administration, upon taking over the leadership of the country 16 months ago, decided to reform the political economy and defence architecture, given the critical situation the country found itself.
The New Diplomat reports that this is the latest of Tinubu’s international travel since taking office about 16 months ago.
He has already visited a total of about 27 foreign trips. Among these, he has made four trips to London, two trips each to the United Kingdom and Guinea-Bissau, and single trips to various other countries including Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Benin Republic, South Africa, Ghana, India, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ethiopia, Senegal, and Qatar.
