The Ondo State chapter of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed the recent defection of some of its leaders to the All Progressives Congress (APC), referring to them as “political harlots” who have no impact on the party’s prospects for the upcoming governorship election on November 16., 2024.

In a statement issued by Ayo Fadaka, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity for the PDP’s Campaign Organization, downplayed the importance of the defectors, noting that they have been politically unstable. Fadaka remarked that “such characters cannot be considered as an asset to the Party.”

“It would be recalled that over 5000 associates of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, along with other leaders across the 18 council areas, defected to the ruling party. However, these individuals have been detached from developments within our Party for a long time. One of them, who even vied for our gubernatorial ticket, was earlier nominated as an NDDC Commissioner under the Tinubu administration,” Fadaka stated.

He continued: “We note conclusively that these people are mere rolling stones who gather no moss as they relocate from one Party to another during every election cycle. They have never been politically stable, and the reason we are not missing them. They will add nothing to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his Party, rather they will become unlucky, and we congratulate him and APC on this account.”

Fadaka urged serious-minded individuals in APC to take cognizance of the fact that key figures responsible for APC’s previous successes had since defected to PDP, urging others not to delay in joining PDP to help reposition the state.
