A Former Minister of Transportation and a two-term governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, has come up with a grim verdict on the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying what happened during the military era is not worse than what Nigerians are curtains experiencing.

The former governor, in a damning verdict, declared that what Nigerians are experiencing under the present government cannot be said to be less worse than what people went through during the military rule.

He was quoted as saying this during his address at a lecture and book launch of a former Editor of The Punch, Dayo Oketola.

He was quoted as saying: “You don’t call politicians to talk because they will spoil the occasion.

“I heard some journalists say, ‘We lived in the trenches’. Which trenches? During the military regime? Is that time worse than now?”

While it is not clear what specific instances the former minister was talking about but it would be recalled that the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero was arrested in the early hours of Monday by the Department of State Service (DSS) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

However, he was later released a few hours later.

Similarly, some operatives of the DSS were accused of invading the Abuja office of the SERAP. However, the DSS had denied the allegations, saying its personnel went to the SERAP’s office to perform a lawful investigation.
