The women wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Lagos chapter, (WOWICAN), has declared a seven-day fasting and prayer session over the country’s economic woes.

WOWICAN Chairperson, Stella Iseoma-Okoroafor, on Tuesday, announced the initiative, explaining that the session, with the theme “Divine Intervention,” coincides with the association’s 13th annual convention and its 30th anniversary. The program, which began on September 16 and will run until September 22, is being held at the Apostolic Church LAWNNA Territorial Headquarters in Ketu, Lagos.

According to Iseoma-Okoroafor:“Like Esther, Naomi, and the Queen of Sheba, who interceded for their people during times of need, our women of faith will use this year’s anniversary to seek divine intervention for our nation, Nigeria.”

She emphasized the power of collective prayers, adding:

“God hears the supplication of women when made in unison and with a tearful heart. The challenges of our time can be surmounted by prayer, which is why we are calling on all women to join in this all-important session that will change the fortunes of our country.”

Iseoma-Okoroafor also urged women to view the prayer session as not just a spiritual exercise but also a means to advocate for a brighter future for Nigeria.

She stated :”As Christian women, we can, through prayer, negotiate a better pathway for our nation, one that halts every anxiety and brings lasting peace.”

She further stressed the importance of women’s involvement in governance, especially at the grassroots level. She called on women to take active roles in shaping the future by nurturing the next generation, saying, “as women, our roles are to nurture and mould the characters of the next generation of great leaders.”

The prayer session is expected to draw participants from across Lagos state, with WOWICAN leaders hopeful that the spiritual gatheringt will inspire meaningful change in the nation’s fortunes.

It would be recalled that Nigeria has been grappling with inflation, rising living costs, and other economic pressures in recent times.
