FG Declares Monday Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Monday, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

This was announced in a statement by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who conveyed the Federal Government’s message to the Muslim faithful.

It would be recalled that Eid-ul-Mawlid is observed annually by Muslims around the world to honor the birth of Prophet Muhammad, a time for reflection and prayers for peace.

Tunji-Ojo said: “Muslim should use the opportunity of the period to pray for enduring peace and a more prosperous, egalitarian nation.” He further urged Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience, which the Prophet exemplified.

Also, in an official press release issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Friday, the government emphasized the importance of the holiday, urging faithful to reflect on the lessons of the Prophet’s life.
