The Super Eagles of Nigeria began their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with a great start, following a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic.

Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen were both on the score sheet as they defeated the Cheetahs of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday. This has elicited great reactions as many hail the accomplishment as a great step in the right direction.

Lookman, recently nominated for the FIFA Balon d’Or award, netted the first goal in the first half.

Osimhen extended the lead for the Super Eagles with a sumptuous goal, scoring his 22nd goal for Nigeria.

Lookman’s third goal sealed the victory for Nigeria.

Nigeria will take on Rwanda on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, as they look to secure a slot in the upcoming 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
