The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has officially announced that the state’s local government elections are scheduled to take place on September 28, 2024, marking the end of a decade-long interval since the last elections were held.

This was contained in a press statement issued by ANSIEC Chairman Genevieve C. Osakwe.

The Chairman, in the statement, revealed that the election timetable and schedule of activities can be obtained from the ANSIEC headquarters in Awka starting from August 14, 2024.

This is coming after a judgment of the Supreme Court which granted autonomy to local governments Councils in Nigeria.

This development also follows the inauguration of ANSIEC members by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State.

During the inauguration, the governor stressed the need for a clean and credible election.
