Apprehension has escalated in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, as an explosion reportedly rocked the Secretariat of the Action People’s Party (APP) in the state.
It was learnt that the Secretariat, which is situated along the GRA axis of Port Harcourt, went up in flames in the early hours of Monday.
According to reports, the explosion was reportedly caused by a detonated dynamite that went off.
The explosion was said to have damaged the ceiling and fittings in the building leaving the leadership and members of the party in panic.
Although those who carried out the act have not been identified as at press time, feelers have fingered some suspected political thugs in the state.
The development was said to have occurred just when the Secretariat of the APP was reportedly taking a new look.
There have been speculations that some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were reportedly planning to dump the party for APP following the crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his predecessor, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Nyesom Wike.
