Radical Lagos Lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a propent of EndBadGovernance protests in Nigeria, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) has vowed to proceed with his team on the nationwide protests, starting tomorrow.

Adegboruwa who is also a Lawyer to the organisers of planned endBadGovernance protests nationwide, however, appealed to the protesters to reduce the protest to one day or a maximum of three days.

The #EndBadGovernance protests, which are gaining momentum on social media, are slated to be held from August 1 to 10.

In a statement on Wednesday, hours before the eve of the protest, Adegboruwa urged the protesters to be orderly and peaceful as they demonstrate in the locations already communicated to the police.

While commending the courage of the protesters, he called for constructive engagement with the government to address the issues raised. He also urged the protest organisers to establish different teams to engage with various government representatives for immediate action.

The planned protests are a response to widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of economic and social issues. The movement has garnered significant support on social media, highlighting grievances related to the high cost of living, unemployment, and perceived governmental inefficiency. The protests, according to the organizers, aim to draw attention to these issues and demand immediate and effective action from the authorities.

The appeal from Adegboruwa reflects a concern for maintaining public order while ensuring that the protesters’ voices are heard. His suggestion to shorten the protest duration, according to some, is intended to minimize potential disruptions and focus efforts on meaningful dialogue with the government.

As the protest date approaches, the organisers and participants face the challenge of balancing their right to peaceful assembly with the need for constructive engagement to achieve their goals. The response from the government and the effectiveness of the proposed engagements will be crucial in determining the outcome of these demonstrations.
