Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has issued a directive for the closure of both public and private schools in Osun state.
The order was contained in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, ministry of Education, Mr Kehinde Jimoh.
In the statement, Adeleke directed all schools to proceed on vacation from Wednesday, July 31, 2024, due to the upcoming nationwide protest scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024.
The statement reads in part: “This is to inform the general public, particularly parents, guardians and heads of both public and private schools in the state that due to the planned nationwide protests, all schools are directed to proceed on the third term vacation From Wednesday 31st July, 2023.
“Parents and Guardians are advised to ensure the safety of their wards during the vacation.”
The New Diplomat reports that the nationwide protest has been gaining momentum on social media.
Several Nigerians had expressed their willingness to protest against rising cost of living.
