The Chief Justice Of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has officially sworn in 22 judges for the Court of Appeal.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in Abuja.

Part of those sworn in was Eberechi suzzette Nyesom-Wike, wife of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; and Justice Donatus Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, among other judges.

The Minister was also present at the swearing-in ceremony alongside Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

In his address, Ariwoola warned the new justices against giving misleading and conflicting judgements.

According to him, the National Judicial Council (NJC) has already activated the process of making errant judges who give misleading and conflicting judgements to face the consequence of their “despicable and odious conduct”.

He described their conduct as an embarrassment to the judiciary and would not be taken lightly.

He urged the new judges of the Court of Apoeal to be upright, not to falter and toe the path of infamy but must adjudicate according to the constitution.

The new Justices are: Abdullahi Muhammad Liman (Nasarawa State), Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi (Ogun State), Olukayode Adeniyi (Oyo State), Zainab Bage Abubakar (Kebbi State), Isaq Mohammed Sani (Kaduna State), Lateef Babajide Lawal-Akapo (Lagos State), and Ngozika U. Okaisabor (Imo State).
