By ‘Dotun Akintomide

With a stalemate at the Stade Omnispirts Ahmadu Ahidjo in Yaounde Monday evening, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have buried the world cup dream of the reigning African Champions, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, just three days after white-washing them in Uyo.

Following the four goals’ euphoria in the first leg, the Super Eagles started the first half as the better side. Moses Simon scored the opener in the 30th minute with a left footed volley after a poor clearance.

In the second half, Cameroon equalized via a Vincent Aboubakar penalty after Ikechukwu Ezenwa was adjudged to have taken down Faye.

As things stand, Nigeria top group B with 10 points from four games, six ahead of Zambia on four points who have a game with Algeria tomorrow.

Cameroon are third with 3 points after loosing four points to neighbors, Nigeria in successive matches, dashing their hope of making it to the 2018 soccer fiesta in Russia.
