Nigerians have started reacting to the devastating flood that has disrupted major roads in various areas of Lagos State.

It was gathered that a heavy rainfall that began in the early hours of Wednesday caused major roads to be flooded.

The New Diplomat reports that this has, in turn, disrupted economic activities, as many people were unable to use the major roads to reach their respective destinations.

It was also gathered that the flood had begun to ravage the homes of citizens in Lagos state.

Major roads in Lagos such as Oworonshoki, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikeja, Alapere, Iyana-Oworo, Oshodi, Ile-epo, Abattoir, Victoria Island, among others, had been submerged, creating traffic gridlocks across the nation’s commercial nerve centre.

Also, major roads in Epe, Eredo, Bogije, Labora, Abijon, Sangotedo, Awoyaya and Ibeju-Lekki, have been affected by the flood.

Below here are some of the reactions curated on social media:

“Wahala everywhere. This is just the beginning. The money use to build coastal road should have been spent on drainage. It time for the lagosian to know that their leaders have no plans for you guys”(@gospelusen70)

“A result of building on water area could have led to this. Some people will be back filling river banks to build.”(@NwabudeDaniel2)

“Next year again, all of us will come here again to banter and complain about this lagos flood….”(@hacksultan)

“The flood Lekki people will experience today ehn, it will take 400 Noah’s Ark to rehabilitate them.

The whole of Lagos will feel it, including me 😭”(@lollypeelze)

“The flooding has started since the rains started this year.

When govt is trying to free up water channels, people have built houses on.

We will be the same people to say the govt is being high handed, when the floods come we will say the govt is doing nothing.”(@Osi_Suvae)
