President Joe Biden has dismissed criticism emerging after his shaky performance in the debate against former President Donald J. Trump.

The President who attributed the shaky performance to ‘soar throat’ affirmed that he had no intentions to step down his candidacy.

Biden asserted that he performed well during the debate despite facing criticism regarding his age and calls for him to abandon his presidential aspirations.

Biden said: “I think we did well,” he told reporters during a stop at a Waffle House in Atlanta shortly after midnight. Asked about Democrats’ concerns about his showing and calls for him to consider dropping out of the race, he said: “No. It’s hard to debate a liar.”

He indicated that his raspy voice stemmed from a minor ailment. “I have a sore throat,” he said. His aides said he had been fighting a cold.

The New Diplomat reports that this comes after Biden’s performance at Thursday night’s debate came under stinging criticism, even from people who strongly oppose Trump, and led to calls for the president to drop out of the race.

At the start of the debate, Biden stumbled over his words and trailed off several times. Some of the president’s comments were unintelligible and the sore throat meant Biden had a hoarse voice throughout the debate. The shaky performance is likely to add to the mounting focus on Biden’s age and fans questions about the 81-year-old being fit enough to serve another term.
