The details of the court judgment seem to indicate that it’s victory for both parties-Sanusi and Bayero. How? To many lawyers, the court granted the prayers sought by the petitioners and took it back in another breadth. Thus is how some lawyers put it:

A: Court granted the reliefs sought by Aminu Babba that the Emirates Law of 2019 was repealed in violation of Court order, so it is voided accordingly. Thus, according to the court, the action of the State Government is hereby reversed.

B- However, the Court went a step further to grant the application of the State House of Assembly to stay the execution of the above mentioned court order pending the determination of the case.

C: The implication of this is that Sanusi remains the Emir of Kano pending the determination of the case as the order is on hold or inenforcable until the case is determined on appeal.

D: The Court in its transferred the matter to another court which implies that Justice Liman might no longer the judge that might hear and determine the substantive suit even if the Court of Appeal holds that the Federal High Court has jurisdiction.
