In a move said to be aimed at overhauling the public procurement system, President Bola Tinubu has reportedly directed the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Mamman Ahmadu to resign.
This directive was announced on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
According to Ngelale, Ahmadu’s resignation is part of a broader effort to reorganize the agency for enhanced efficiency and transparency.
To this effect, the statement revealed that Tinubu has instructed Ahmadu to hand over to the most senior officer in the Bureau until a new Director-General is appointed.
In his statement, Ngelale quoted the President as saying thus: “This is part of a larger reorganization effort in the public procurement system to reposition the agency for greater efficiency and transparency.”
The President expressed gratitude to Ahmadu for his service and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Ahmadu was appointed as the substantive Director-General of the Bureau by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016.
