President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated with his counterpart, the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa on a second term in office.
In an official statement released on Saturday, June 15, 2024, Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, also offered congratulations to the people of South Africa on the successful conduct of the recent General election, acknowledging the fairness and freedom of the electoral process.
While wishing Ramaphosa a successful second term Tinubu “called for the strengthening of bilateral ties between Nigeria and South Africa as strategic partners in Africa for the overall advancement of the continent.”
The New Diplomat reports that Ramaphosa on Friday secured his second term as the president of the country.
He was re-elected for a second term after his humbled African National Congress (ANC) was able to strike a deal with the country’s second-biggest party, the Democratic Alliance and other parties in the country.
Ramaphosa who is the leader of the ANC was able to secure a total of 283 votes to defeat his opponent Julius Malema the candidate of the Economic Freedom Fighters who polled 44 in the 400-member house.
