The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has expressed his disappointment at the decision of organized labour to shut down the national grid, characterizing the action as a serious breach of the law.

According to Akume, the actions of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are capable of sabotaging the economy of Nigeria.

It would be recalled that on Monday, the whole country was thrown into darkness as organised labour shut down the national grid as part of its industrial action over clamor for a new minimum wage and the restoration of old electricity tariff.

Reacting to the action, SGF Akume urged the unions to be more circumspect in their demands over the national minimum

He made this declaration while addressing the National Executive Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Abuja on Thursday. Akume said the government recorded a loss of revenue due to the action.

The SGF, however, reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to improve the welfare of Nigerians.
