At such a time like this when elected and political appointees are being accused of not reaching out to their constituents by way of alleviating poverty and improving their welfare, a Sapele-based PDP stalwart, Mr. Eugene Okpe Inoaghan has pledged to add his personal money to his monthly salaries for the purpose of empowering his people, a responsibility he has been carrying out for over three decades now.

It would be recalled that Mr. Inaoghan, a philanthropist and pioneer PDP stalwart who has been contributing to the progress of the party in Sapele Local Government Area since the inception of the current democratic dispensation, was recently appointed as Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Special Duties.

Speaking exclusively to The New Diplomat in Asaba on Sunday, shortly after the special thanksgiving service organized by the state government on the occasion of the 26th Anniversary of the creation of Delta State, Mr. Inoaghan expressed gratitude to the Governor, Sen. Dr. Okowa for the appointment, adding that he will add his own money to his monthly salary for the continuation of his empowerment project of the Sapele people.

Said he: “In Sapele, they are happy, they are rejoicing for my appointment and I believe I will do more.  First and foremost, whatever comes as my salary, I don’t think I will touch any kobo.  I will add my personal money to it to help the needy and the poor and preach the gospel of Governor Okowa.

“Before now I have been helping the needy and the poor but with this appointment, I will do more.   This is because, with the appointment, Governor Okowa has called me to duty and to serve and I will serve creditably and meritoriously.”

Earlier, he had thanked Governor Okowa for the appointment given to him, adding that he was very happy that God used the governor to remember him, having contributed immensely to the growth of the PDP in the state for well over 17 years.

According to him, the governor’s kind gesture has demonstrated that those who have worked for the party should not lose hope as they will be remembered one day.

“I’m grateful to the almighty God for making the governor, the smart governor, the listening governor to remember me because I have also contributed immensely to the party right from its inception.  And with what he has done, he has charged those who have not been given appointments to continue to work because they will surely be remembered.  You can see that I’ve been in the party for the past 17 years and at last I’ve been remembered.

Inaoghan who is also a renown natural rubber processing magnate, used the occasion to commend the governor for his giant strides in the development of the state, adding that it is the responsibility of the people of Sapele and indeed, the entire state to appreciate the good works of Governor Okowa by returning him to power in 2019 for a second term in office.

“If something is good then there is no need for it to be changed.  All the people of Sapele and indeed, all Deltans need do is to vote the governor back in 2019.  And I’m enjoining all Deltans in Delta State, in other states and in the Diaspora to come and register en mass in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise and cast their votes in 2019 to return the governor back to power.  With that, he will do more”, he said.
