Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) are conducting operations to rescue victims trapped after a two-story building collapsed at 15 Iga Idungaran, near the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, on Lagos Island.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred around 11 am on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Also on the ground to assist with the rescue are emergency responders from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and other agencies.

As of 12:45 pm, there have been no reports of fatalities resulting from the building collapse, as reported by Vanguard.

The New Diplomat reports that Thursday’s incident comes just four days after a mosque collapsed on Yusuf Street in the Papa Ajao area of Mushin on Sunday, May 26, killing at least three worshippers, including a 12-year-old boy.
