Operatives of security agencies such as the Military, Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and others have been reportedly sighted around the mini Palace of the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.
The police officers and soldiers were seen mounting strategic positions around the palace where Bayero had been residing since he returned to Kano after his dethronement.
According to reports, the security operatives barricaded all adjacent streets, placing stringent security measures within the palace grounds.
This comes a few hours after the Kano State High Court issued an order restraining the recently ousted Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, and four others from assuming the role of monarchs in the state.
The order was granted following an ex parte motion filed by the state government on May 27, 2024.
The presiding judge, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, also directed the Commissioner of Police in Kano, to assume control of the palace currently occupied by Ado Bayero and promptly remove the former Emir.
The New Diplomat reports that Kano State has been witnessing massive games of thrones after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf signed the Kano State Emirate Council Law 2024.
The newly- signed law dissolved four new Emirates in the State and restored Kano Emirate to its pre-2019 status on Thursday, May 23.
Yusuf also issued a reappointment letter to Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II on Friday, May 24, as the new Emir of Kano and ordered the emirs affected by the new law to vacate their palaces within 48 hours.
However, the Federal High Court sitting in Kano, on Friday granted an ex-parte order, barring the state government from implementing the law.
