The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, has retracted his earlier comment in which he fingered the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, of allegedly interfering in the ongoing emirship dispute in the state.
The Deputy governor who addressed a press conference at the state government house in Kano on Monday, also apologised to the NSA for the consequences of the allegations levelled against his person and office.
Gwarzo said he was misled by the information he received, which turned out false.
He said: “The Office of the National Security Adviser has refuted the allegations and distanced themselves from what we have alleged.
“I have seen it, he has done it through three media, and today, I have seen the one about going to court.
“We have to acknowledge that we have been misled into believing that the NSA was behind the happenings along this line.
“We apologise to the National Security Adviser, his person and his office for any embarrassment and inconveniences this might have caused him
“We are human and can err at any time. On my behalf and the Governor of Kano State, I want to assure the NSA of our continued support and cooperation in discharging his duty as the NSA,” he stated
The New Diplomat reports that this comes after Ribadu had threatened to take legal action against the Deputy Governor of Kano State.
Ribadu in a formal correspondence filed by his legal representatives at Aliyu & Musa Chambers, demanded that the Deputy governor should retract the statement he made, alleging that he provided two private jets to deposed Emir Ado Bayero.
He also demanded a public apology, which should be published in five national dailies in the country.
It would be recalled that Gwarzo, while speaking in Kano on Saturday accused Ribadu of supporting deposed Ado Bayero. The deputy governor said Ribadu allegedly provided the aircraft that brought Bayero back to Kano.
