The newly reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has arrived at the Kano government house to receive his letter of appointment and other instruments of office.
It was gathered that the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was received in a low-key homecoming reception in the late hours of Thursday.
Sanusi was in Port Harcourt, Rivers State when news broke that the Kano state House of Assembly had passed a bill amending the Kano State Emirs (Appointment and Deposition) Law, which was previously employed by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje of the state to dethrone Sanusi as the 14th Emir of Kano.
Following the development, Governor Abba Yusuf announced that Sanusi had been reinstated as the Emir of Kano.
All is now finally set for the event that will usher the Emir to his first outing in public since his reinstatement.
He is expected to be at the Africa House in Kano Government House for a mini-durbar ceremony by 10 am, from where he would proceed to the Nassarawa Emir’s palace.
The Emir will then proceed to lead the jumu’at (Friday) prayers at the Kano Central mosque located at the palace in Kofar Kudu.
The New Diplomat reports that this comes against the background of an ex-parte order granted by the Federal High Court sitting in Kano.
The court had issued an order stopping the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law.
